BOGOTÁ, Colombia, October 27, 2026 – Colombian fintech FinMaq today announced a US$6.5 million Series A round led by Accion, with participation from new investor Mundi Ventures and existing investors ALIVE Ventures and 30N Ventures. The funding will help FinMaq scale its point-of-sale financing for the machinery and equipment small businesses need to grow.

SMEs make up more than 99% of businesses in Colombia, generate 79% of employment and contribute about 40% of GDP, yet 40% lack access to financing for the equipment that would help them grow faster.[1] FinMaq helps close this gap by partnering with equipment distributors to offer credit, rent-to-own, hybrid and post-sale financing at the point of sale, powered by proprietary scoring models and digital onboarding. Its clients include manufacturers, food producers, construction contractors, health clinics, rural veterinarians, transport operators and smallholder farmers providing essential services across Colombia.

Since 2019, FinMaq has served more than 1,600 clients and disbursed over US$100 million, with an even urban/rural split, 40% women clients and a default rate below the industry average.[2] According to an independent survey by impact measurement company 60 Decibels, 72% of clients accessed productive-asset financing for the first time through FinMaq, 86% reported an improved business outlook, 83% increased productivity and 70% a better quality of life. On average, every machine FinMaq finances creates one new formal job.[3]

With the new capital, FinMaq aims to double its operation, surpassing US$200 million in disbursements and reaching more than 5,000 clients over the next 18 months, expanding access for underbanked independent contractors, solo entrepreneurs and small businesses.

“Securing this Series A is a testament to the hard work of our team and the massive opportunity ahead,” said Diego Sanz de Santamaría, CEO of FinMaq. “Having Accion lead this round, with Mundi Ventures coming on board and the continued trust of ALIVE Ventures and 30N Ventures, gives us a dream team of investors to propel our growth. We remain firmly committed to driving meaningful social impact through productive financial inclusion.”

“Productive assets like an industrial oven, construction equipment, or a delivery truck can transform the money-making ability of a small business, but for many in Colombia a lack of affordable credit keeps them out of reach. We are proud to invest in FinMaq and support their work connecting entrepreneurs with the financing they need for machinery to improve their business performance and livelihoods,” said John Fischer, Chief Investment Officer at Accion.
