This Privacy Notice, together with the Terms of Use, sets out the basis on which any personal information we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us and the terms govern your use of the website.

These Terms of Use and Privacy should be read in conjunction with the terms of a privacy notice, statement, or policy that is or may be adopted by Accion or an affiliate for a specific purpose, which shall control and supersede these Terms of Use to the extent they are inconsistent or in conflict.

Information Collected by Accion and How We Use It

Accion and its affiliates may collect various types of personal information when you use our website or when you voluntarily provide us with your personal information, such as personal information submitted by you through our website when you submit an online form, show interest in Accion and its activities and services, register for an event, make a donation, sign up for a mailing list or participate in the recruitment process for employment or volunteer opportunities, participate in a survey, or personal information submitted by you through email. By sharing information with Accion or by visiting this website, you are accepting the practices described in these Terms of Use and Privacy.

Examples of personal information that we may collect include:

We may use your personal information for a number of purposes and activities, such as: to establish a relationship with you, send you periodic communications with information about our organization, programs and services or general financial inclusion developments; to process donations; to support Accion’s charitable fundraising efforts; to manage event registration and participation; to respond to and evaluate job or volunteer applicants; to analyze and improve our website and our communications; to carry out Accion’s programmatic activities; to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations; and to respond to your requests or inquiries.

We may further use your personal information for Accion’s legitimate interests, provided that your fundamental rights and freedoms do not outweigh that interest; or where you have provided your consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. Our legitimate interest in processing your data is to promote and support our work to create a financially inclusive world.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

As with many other internet sites, we collect certain information in the form of “cookies” to understand how users use our website.

Opt-Out

Our marketing platform, Engaging Networks, provides users the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications from us through a special Email Subscriptions / Preferences form linked at the bottom of email messages you receive from Accion. You may choose to receive only specific communications or none at all.

Security and Online Donations

We have adopted a risk-based approach to physical, administrative, and technical security measures to protect the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of your personal information. You should be aware, however, that no transmission of data over the Internet is fully secure and provide us with this information at your own risk.

For your online security, we use a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliant Level 1 Service Provider to process online donations pursuant to the highest industry standards and guidelines for PCI compliance. Please refer to the “Third-Party Sites” section below for more information. Independent external audits are conducted to ensure the privacy, security and appropriate processing of your payment information. No online credit or debit card information is received or processed directly by Accion.

If you have any questions regarding the security of your credit or debit card donation online, please email us at donate@accion.org.

Sharing Your Information

Accion may share your personal information for the purposes described in these Terms of Use and Privacy with its affiliates, partners, consultants, vendors and service providers, subject to applicable confidentiality and data protection obligations. Accion will never rent, trade or sell your email address or other personal information for commercial purposes. However, Accion may agree with other reputable charitable organizations to rent or exchange a donor’s contact information in order to write via postal mail or email to some of each other’s supporters in order to reduce costs and expand our audience. If you are a donor and prefer not to have your name and contact information used in this manner, you may send a request to the Resource Development department via email to donate@accion.org.

Third-Party Sites

We work with a number of third-party vendors to provide special features, such as online payment processing, online job applications and our marketing platform, and our website may allow you to “click” over to the other websites. These Terms of Use and Privacy does not cover the collection methods or use of information collected by third-party websites, even if our name and logo appear on the screen. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of the third-party before you use any services they offer. You can find the privacy policy for our online job application system, iCIMS, on the iCIMS website and our marketing and donations platform, Engaging Networks, on the Engaging Networks website. We use PayPal to support donations processing and you can review their privacy policy on the PayPal website.

Rights Regarding Your Information

You may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information held by Accion. We will consider any such request seriously and promptly, although we may choose not to delete information where it is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations, or we otherwise have a legitimate interest to retain the data. You may also have rights to restrict or to object to processing of your data and to portability of your data to other service providers. You may exercise any of these rights by contacting us as described below.

Retention of Information

We keep personal information, in a form which permits us to identify you, for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or until consent to hold the data is revoked, provided that there is no other basis for us to hold the information, such as to comply with our legal obligations, protect and defend Accion against legal claims, or it is not technically reasonably feasible to remove it.
