Ten years ago, Doña Arminda Rioja sold prepared meals to those waiting in lines at bus stops. Arminda’s customers encouraged her to open a restaurant, but she had no storefront, chairs, or tables for her customers.

It can be difficult for small, informal operations like Arminda’s to access credit and other services that would allow them to start and expand their businesses. Fortunately, Arminda found longtime Accion partner BancoSol. With a loan from the institution, she opened her restaurant in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
