As an Investment Officer, Latin America, Accion Digital Transformation, Carolina facilitates the equity investment process globally. She also provides strategic support to portfolio companies and contributes to Accion’s brand, culture, and industry presence.

Carolina joins Accion with over 15 years of experience across emerging markets. Most recently, worked at the World Bank Group’s Independent Evaluation Group, where she assessed private equity funds and direct investments for financial and developmental outcomes across fintech, climate, and health tech. Prior to that, at IDB Invest, she structured equity and debt fund investments, managed blended finance portfolios, and developed innovative risk-sharing solutions for microfinance institutions. Earlier in her career, Carolina was instrumental in launching Colombia’s first Fund of Funds at Bancoldex and pioneered the bank’s first impact investment opportunity, reflecting a long-standing commitment to catalyzing capital for sustainable development and social change.

Carolina holds a Master of International Business and Policy from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
