This article shares findings from the 60 Decibels Microfinance Index, of which Accion is a founding partner. Nearly 90% of the 18,000 microfinance clients surveyed reported a higher quality of life as a result of their loan. The article also emphasizes, however, the importance of improving consumer protection practices to address the 6% of clients surveyed who said their payments were a “heavy burden.”
