Tim Huson is collaborating with Accion Global Advisory Services on research on financial inclusion. He brings over 25 years’ experience in international business, economics, development, and public service. Tim has lived and worked in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Brazil, Poland, Germany, and Thailand in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors and speaks Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Polish.
Tim served for four years on the board of Grameen Costa Rica, which provides financial services to low-income women micro-entrepreneurs. He served as Chief of Party with FINCA International, where he ran a USAID-funded partnership between FINCA and Visa which piloted card-based financial services in Guatemala and Nicaragua. Tim worked in Silicon Valley for fourteen years in Software Product Management and Product Development, building software and data solutions primarily for financial clients in international markets. He worked in Silicon Valley for Oracle, Borland, Netscape, and two fintech startups which were acquired by Thomson Reuters.
Tim was co-founder of the North Oakland Community Charter School, a thriving K-5 public charter school in Oakland, California. He earned an M.A. with honors in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.S. in Engineering from Stanford University.
