Santanu is a Digital Financial Services and Payments industry practitioner with more than 35 years expertise in APCEMEA markets. As Accion’s Regional Program Manager, Asia, Santanu has a pioneering legacy in microfinance and fintech impact investing. Since 2018, he has been responsible for Accion’s Global Advisory Solution’s business in the region. Santanu provides strategic, operational and technical support to Accion’s partners in the areas of digital transformation, digital lending, digital payments, supply chain finance, customer engagement and risk strategy.
Between 2013 to 2018, Santanu was the Chief Information & Digital Officer of Jana Small Finance Bank (formerly Janalakshmi Financial Services) with responsibility for the technology, products, BI, marketing and agent banking functions. He was part of the core team which led the conversion of the microfinance company to a Bank.
Prior to Jana, Santanu worked for nearly 12 years with Visa, first as the Country Manager and Managing Director for India and South Asia, then as the Acting General Manager South and South East Asia, before moving to Singapore to serve as Regional Head, Innovations and New Technology Products.
Before Visa, Santanu worked with ANZ Grindlays Bank/Standard Chartered Bank in India in positions of increasing responsibilities in the consumer and business (SME) banking divisions and Price Waterhouse in their tax advisory practice.
Santanu is a Chartered Accountant with a degree in Law and lives in Bangalore, India.
