Melissa Baez

Vice-President, Global Program Management

As part of Accion Global Advisory Solutions, Melissa Baez is the Global Program Manager responsible for overseeing the operations of the advisory team to advance its goal of helping financial service providers around the world better meet the financial needs of underserved individuals and small businesses. She works across regional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, tailored support to clients. Melissa also manages talent across the team, leverages external partnerships to identify new engagement opportunities, and provides advisory services to financial service providers.

Melissa has held several positions at Accion, both in-country and in Washington, DC, since joining the organization in 2006. She managed numerous technical assistance projects, led global peer knowledge exchange programs, and provided advisory support to Accion’s partners across a range of areas including strategic planning, institutional transformation, and human resource management. She has also held governance roles with Accion’s partners in Africa and Haiti, and served as an advisor to the Africa Board Fellowship program at the Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion.

Before working with Accion, Melissa was a senior associate at JPMorgan Chase Private Bank where she provided investment management services to high net worth individuals. She started her career in finance as an investment banking analyst in Chase’s Middle Market Business Owners group. Melissa holds an International MBA from the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina and a B.S. in business administration with a major in finance from the University of Colorado.
