3/2/11: Bangladesh Central Bank moves to remove Yunus from Grameen Bank: Dr. Mohammad Yunus has been ordered by the Bangladesh government to leave his position as the Managing Director of Grameen Bank, according to Private Desh TV and Bangla Vision Television, citing statements from Bangladesh's state-run central bank. In a statement, Grameen Bank said that Dr. Yunus remains at his post and indicated that the order will be challenged in court.

The pending removal of Yunus appears to be the result of a complex political and legal environment; we will continue to follow these events.

Recognizing Dr. Yunus' profound contributions to microfinance, we hope for a just and speedy resolution that will ensure the continued thriving of Grameen Bank.
