Background
Banco Delta was formed on July 3, 2006, when Grupo Financiero Delta, a financial institution with decades of experience in Central America, obtained a license to operate as a microfinance bank in Panama. Accion began working with Banco Delta in 2007 to help the bank launch its new microfinance operations. Banco Delta committed its management team as well as almost 100 employees to the development of financial services for micro and small enterprises. Since then, Banco Delta has created an impressive loan portfolio as well as savings and insurance products. The bank’s medium-term microfinance goals include the addition of new technology and home improvement products.
