Client and Loan Officer from Accion Microfinance Bank Accion Microfinance Bank distributes N15 billion in loans
Accion Microfinance Bank in Nigeria recently announced it has reached N15 billion (approximately U.S. $94 million) in disbursed loans since beginning operations in 2007. The institution has now distributed 81,589 loans and opened more than 100,000 savings accounts, expanding access to financial services for individuals living in Nigeria.

Clients at Akiba Putting clients first in Tanzania
Accion partner Akiba Commercial Bank was recently recognized as one of the top three most customer-focused banks of more than 40 banks in Tanzania, in a recent study of banks across Africa. In particular, the study highlights that customers rank Akiba number one in terms of pricing and number three in terms of customer care and convenience.

Staff at Vindhya Vindhya enters eighth year of operations in Bangalore
Accion investee company Vindhya e-Infomedia Private Limited is entering its eighth year of operations in Bangalore, India this month. Vindhya is a business process outsourcing company that focuses on recruiting mainly differently-abled employees. The company has recently landed a major project from the government of Karnataka, and has also received projects from major financial institutions in India. The Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion launched its newest report, Growing Income, Growing Inclusion: How Rising Incomes at the Base of the Pyramid Will Shape Financial Inclusion, with a webcast co-hosted with MasterCard Worldwide. The research discusses ways in which rising incomes among the very poor affect financial inclusion.

Client Protection Certification Seal Refections on consumer protection from Montenegro 
At the 16th Annual Microfinance Centre Conference in Budva, Montenegro, staff from the Smart Campaign led a Smart Assessor’s Training and presented the Client Protection Certification program. Because each institution works differently, they won’t necessarily approach achievement of certification in the same way – but keeping clients at the forefront of their efforts should always serve as the guiding light.
