John Fischer
Chief Investment Officer

John Fischer oversees Accion’s investment vehicles, including equity investments in microfinance institutions (MFIs) made through its Gateway Fund and seed- and early-stage investments, respectively, through Accion’s Venture Lab and the Accion Frontier Inclusion Fund. John joined Accion in August 2000 as an investment professional working with the Accion Latin American Bridge Fund, a loan guarantee fund for microfinance institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Accion Gateway Fund, an equity investment fund for microfinance institutions worldwide. In 2002, he helped develop a $20 million private equity fund for microfinance institutions worldwide– Accion Investments in Microfinance, SPC–and in 2007, John led the successful $30 million capital raise for Accion Investments, incorporating new private investors to the fund.

In these roles, John has served on the boards of directors and key committees of leading microfinance institutions worldwide such as Mibanco Banco de la Microempresa (Peru), Banco Solidario (Ecuador), Banco Popular Covelo (Honduras), Sociedad de Ahorro y Credito Integral (El Salvador), Akiba Commercial Bank (Tanzania), Pan-African Savings and Loans (Ghana), and Accion Microfinance Bank (Nigeria). John led successful purchases and recapitalizations of Banco Popular Covelo (Honduras) and Akiba Commercial Bank (Tanzania). He has also been responsible for investment due diligence, negotiation, and monitoring for Accion Investments, and serves as Accion Investments' own chief financial officer and company secretary. He has been trained in Accion's CAMEL diagnostic tool, used to evaluate and rate microfinance institutions worldwide.

John holds a bachelor of arts from Haverford College and master of business administration and master of international relations degrees from Boston University.


Radhika Shroff
Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Gateway Fund
Accion Global Investments

Radhika is the Deputy Chief Investment Officer of the Gateway Fund. Her responsibilities include leading investment activities in Asia as well as initiatives which span across Accion's investment teams, including Gateway and Venture Lab.

Bringing 15 years of in-depth experience in global banks, Radhika has worked in investment banking, consumer financial services and microfinance, and investing in the US, Asia and Latin America.  Prior to Accion, Radhika spent five years at Citi in New York City as a Vice President of Strategic Planning and Analysis where she worked closely with Citi's Global Consumer CFO to lend analytical support and drive strategic initiatives across Citi's consumer finance, credit card, mortgage and retail banking businesses. Prior to Citi, Radhika worked for Wells Fargo, managing the launch and growth of one of its first internet investment products and in UBS's investment banking group, working on Latin American and North American M&A and equity raising transactions. Radhika has also spent a year in Thailand as a Luce Scholar, working with the Thai Ministry of Finance on small business development initiatives. In 2010, Radhika led an investor group to acquire a majority stake in Caja Rural Los Andes, a rural bank in Peru, where she also sits on the board.

Radhika is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Gujarati. She received a BA in Psychology and a BS in Economics from The University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from The Wharton School and an MA in International Studies from The Joseph H. Lauder Institute.  She lives in New York City with her husband and two children.


Jorge de Angulo
Senior Investment Officer
Accion Global Investments

Jorge de Angulo is Senior Investment Officer with Accion Global Investments Group, based out of Cambridge MA. His responsibilities include analysis, due diligence and deal execution for debt and equity transactions in microfinance institutions (MFIs). In terms of portfolio management, Jorge oversees the MFI investments for the Accion Gateway Fund in Latin America. In addition to these responsibilities, Jorge represents Accion as a Director on the board of a special-purpose investment vehicles. 

Prior to joining Accion, Jorge worked for a small venture capital firm in Miami and for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), in Washington D.C. He also has experience working for Citibank Colombia, where he held increasing responsibilities as a credit analyst and relationship manager.

Jorge graduated from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia with a bachelor's degree in economics and completed a master's degree in international economic policy from American University in Washington, D.C. Jorge is an American citizen who was raised in Colombia and is fluent in English and Spanish.


Robert Ongodia
Senior Investment Officer
Accion Global Investments

Robert is a Senior Investment Officer at Accion. He is a financial services expert with over 19 years of hands-on operational experience in banking, impact investing, microfinance, SME lending, and financial sector regulation. He specializes in strategic business planning, investment analysis, restructuring, capacity-building, policy design, and market research. Before coming to Accion, he worked for Centenary Bank, Bank of Uganda, and FINCA where he restructured struggling institutions –transforming loss making non-profits into profitable ventures. Immediately before Accion, he managed several impact-investing funds at MicroVest, which focused on private equity and debt. During his tenure he was able to expand the funds’ outreach to over 10 countries in Africa.

Robert received a master's in Economic Policy Management from Columbia University in New York City and a bachelor of science in economics (Honors) from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.


Alex Qian
Associate Investment Officer
Accion Global Investments

Alex Qian is an Associate Investment Officer at Accion, based in Washington D.C.. At Accion, Alex is actively involved in Accion’s investing activities globally, with a particular focus on Asia (ex. India) and Africa. He participates in deal sourcing, valuation analysis, transaction negotiation, process management, and post-investment support to Accion’s portfolio companies.

Alex brings a wealth of investment and banking experience from Asia. Prior to Accion, he was a Vice President of Investments at Sailing Capital, a major Chinese private equity firm based in Hong Kong. At Sailing, he helped look after investments in a variety of sectors across Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania, with responsibilities including valuation analysis, due diligence, financing negotiation, and co-investment negotiation. Alex started his career as an energy and natural resources banker at HSBC Global Banking & Markets.

Alex received a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong.


Adelina Dasso
Associate Investment Officer
Accion Global Investments

Adelina is an Associate Investment Officer, supporting the Gateway team with analysis, due diligence, and portfolio management of the global portfolio, with a particular focus on Latin America and India.

Adelina has seven years of experience in asset management. She was the Equity Portfolio Manager of Prima AFP, the second biggest pension fund in Peru and part of Credicorp Group, managing the equity portfolio of a US$12 billion fund. As an Equity Portfolio Manager, Adelina was in charge of the equity strategy and its implementation in the trading desk, where she managed local and international counterparts. She was part of the Investment Committee and represented Prima AFP in several boards of Peruvian companies. Prior to that, Adelina was a Senior Equity Research Analyst at Prima AFP, covering the energy, mining and agriculture sectors for the equity and fixed income portfolios. Adelina has expertise across sectors, from mining to consumer, as well as across geographies, from Latin America to Asia. She started her career as an Investment Strategy Analyst in Profuturo AFP, where she did asset allocation, benchmarking and due diligence of private equity funds and mutual funds.

Adelina received her MBA from Duke, where she was a CASEi3 fellow (Center for Advanced Social Entrepreneurship Impact Investing Initiative). Adelina studied Economics and Finance at Universidad de Piura (Lima), where she graduated with high honors. She is CFA and is part of the New York Society of Security Analysts. She is native in Spanish and fluent in English.
